Design our new smilies-competiton
What do you want?
- As you might have noticed in the logo, our smilies are sad - because they know they're about to get replaced, mwaha. We are looking for someone to design us a new set of smilies. The current ones we have were made for DenDen, but are probably over 4 to 5 years old by now, so we feel it's time to get a bunch of new ones.
How do I participate?
- To take part in the competiton, we need you to design 5 sample-smilies:
The "standard" happy smilie, the sad smilie, the angry smilie, the blushing smilie and the devil-smilie. If you win, you should be able to create all other smilies we currently have in a reasonable time-span.
Send your 5 sample-smilies along with your DenDen username via email to smilies@denden.co.uk or via PM to Dennis.
What's in it for me?
- Our eternal gratitude! ;) Of course, that's not really motivating, so we are also chipping in a signed "Ugenia Lavender"-book by Geri, as well as the audio-book and a promotional flyer for the London-signing she did. And as if that wasn't enough, you're getting 1 year of ad-free DenDen (which comes along with fancy exclusive features soon!). You will also be credited within DenDen.
Any rules?
- Absolutely! If your designs win, you will have to transfer the rights to the images to us (you will receive a seperate agreement about that once you win). You have to design these smilies completely from scratch for copyright-reasons, those who don't get excluded. You have to agree that your initial designs are posted on DenDen for people to vote and comment on.
Smilies should have an average height of about 15 pixels (a few more or less is fine too), some smilies like the devil-one can be higher though of course. If possible, they should have a transparent background and should be in gif or png (preferred!) format, if not we can also see if we can do that! Other than that - be creative. Shape, colors, expressions - it's all up to you! The more unusual your design is, the better.
Deadline: All designs have to reach us by Tuesday, May 20th 2008, 8pm CET (that's the time displayed when you're logged out of DenDen). The team will then discuss the designs and the best ones will be put up for vote by everyone!
In the unlikely event that nobody participates or no designs meet our standards, the prize will be given out in a seperate competition! Our decision is final for everything! ;)
