Avril Lavigne engaged to Chad Kroeger

After dating for just six months, People magazine is reporting Canadian musicians Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger are engaged.

The band's official Twitter account also confirmed the news.

"Congratulations Avril and Chad," the band tweeted, linking to the People article.

The magazine reports the two collaborated in February on a song for Lavigne's upcoming album.

"A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together," a friend told People.

Lavigne was previously married to Canadian rocker Deryck Whibley of the band Sum 41.

Kroeger previously lived with Marianne Goriu and was ordered to pay her spousal support when they split.

He's 37-38 according to Wikipedia. But other than the age gap I think they'd get along fine - both are pop/rockers. None of them is a hardcore rocker, nor a proper bubblegum popstar. They seem like a good match to me.
