Just because we don't share the same opinion, doesn't mean we're deluded! :D

Oh I know that, it's the fact half of you can't recognise what a true visionary Nicola is...it must be so sad :(

But she used to be so amazing! The Nicola I love is the one on The Loving Kind from the OOC live CD who beats all the other girls vocally hands down on that track. I think she just lost her way a bit with her voice/image for her solo record.

I am also of the opinion that Nicola in Girls Aloud >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nicola as a solo artist. ('Say It Out Loud' and 'Take A Bite' are superb, though).

She'll find her way back to her proper talent eventually. She's clearly going through some kind of mid(20s)-life crisis recently.

While I do enjoy Nicola's solo work it doesn't compare at all to her within Girls Aloud. I love the way she sings within the group rather then how she sings on her own.

I've always loved Nicola in Girls Aloud, ever since I became a fan. It's funny how back then no one seemed to care about her. I LOVE Cinderella's eyes, and I love her in GA, but I definitely think that she's more herself when it's just her singing songs. Keep the attitude, but make it more GA. Perfect.

I'm not even being biased here, but if given the choice of erasing either Nicola's solo career or all of Girls Aloud's career, I'd erase Girls Aloud and keep my Nicola.

I'd erase Nicola Roberts' solo career without even needing to think about it. Before the question was even finished, 'Cinderella's Eyes' would never have existed.

Sorry Jamie I'd have to agree with Jay on this. I believe the phrase "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" apply here.

I have to say... even though I ADORE Girls Aloud and that Nicola made me fall in love some years ago, I prefer her as a solo artist simply because I think she deserves the spotlight, something she has never really got in the group; also, I freaking LIVE for Cinderella's Eyes, that to me is easily the best thing that came from the whole Girls Aloud journey.

The other Nicola who lost out to Nicola is auditioning again

Girls Aloud Reject Nicola Ward Auditions For 'The X Factor'

The Popstars: The Rivals contestant whose departure paved the way for Nicola Roberts has now auditioned for The X Factor.

Nicola Ward was 19 when she dropped out of Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. She was replaced by Nicola Roberts, who had previously been eliminated by judges Geri Haliwell, Pete Waterman and Louis Walsh, and who then went on to join the final line-up of the girlband.

The Sun reports that she sang Mary J Blige's 'I'm Going Down' for judges Gary Barlow, Rita Ora, Tulisa and Louis Walsh in London earlier this week, and insisted she can "still bring it".

She told the panel that her boyfriend issued her an ultimatum instructing her to choose between Popstars: The Rivals or their relationship.

Ward has previously auditioned for Andrew Lloyd-Webber in the hope of being the UK's Eurovision entry in 2009, but was beaten by Jade Ewen, who went on to join the Sugababes.

Ora served as a guest panelist on Monday and Tuesday's tryouts at London's O2 Arena, whilst Leona Lewis, Nicole Scherzinger and Geri Haliwell have also appeared on separate days.

Producers have been scrambling to recruit a permanent new addition after losing Kelly Rowland earlier this month.

They will no doubt be hoping that the new mentor will help revive the show's slightly lowered ratings for the 2011 season.

She's certainly a trier... according to Wikipedia, her attempts at achieving fame include:

Appeared on Stars In Their Eyes as Britney Spears.
Pop Idol (eliminated before live rounds).
Popstars: The Rivals (left of her own accord).
Member of short-lived girl group 'Cookie'.
Part of short-lived duo 'Cushh'.
Auditioned on Your Country Needs You in the hope of representing UK in the Eurovision (didn't make the live finals)
Appeared as contestant on ITV1 programme Take Me Out (quit after a short time).
Appeared on reality talent programme Don't Stop Believing.
and now X Factor.

... wow.

Nicola's solo work is great but I think what we have to remember is that Girls Aloud worked their asses off for their success. Each year they released an album with 2 to 4 singles and a tour, books, merchandise and promo; not to mention they had a powerhouse songmaking team behind them.

If Nicola was to take that business model for success, I am certain she would have built up better sales over time, she had the acclaim, she has the dream and she started in the right direction. I hope she follows up with Cinderella's Legs pretty soon and I hope that Cinderella's boobs goes platinum! LOL!

Return to “Girls Aloud”
