Mods,
I have a question about certain Youtube links. It's my understanding that posting a Youtube link, even of copywritten material is ok.
My question: what if a Youtube link of a song that's been posted on DenDen has had a previous link that was removed because of copyright infringement?
For example, if I post a "Better Alone" Youtube link, and then that link gets taken down because Red Girl Records asks Youtube to remove it, and then three days later someone posts a new Youtube link of "Better Alone". Does that count as a "copywritten material"?

Re: Question about Youtube Links
I don't believe so. YouTube content is uploaded onto their servers by their members, we cannot take responsibility for what is posted on their site, only what is posted here. If for example RGR were to ask Denden to remove any links to certain things, we would likely oblige out of good faith, but we wouldn't warn our members for posting something.

Ok, I can agree with that for sure. Otherwise it would just get confusing with the rules.

The warning was from another topic that's now deleted, it was an HQ rip ofToo Much video. Nothing with the tour.

I should also add it was a download link, not a Youtube link

Re: Question about Youtube Links
HQ rip of the unreleased, unavailable anywhere, music video, recorded from a tv station (with a tv logo). not sure how this is any different from the previous topics where Marcel and I were uploading performances (from television) in HQ as well. But oh well, rules are rules - I'm hardly bothered by the warning.
Innit sad that you can't just turn the computer off?

These rules really are all over the place. The Youtube vs. Download thing is very strange, but I'm certainly not one to complain lol.

Re: Question about Youtube Links
Jimmy: what happens with you tube is that they are responsible for their videos, so if you place a link to their page, it is their responsibility to check if copyright has been infringed or not. Hence why we accept youtube links (without any download links in them).
If you host a download on a website, they normally say it is "YOUR" responsibility to make sure the content isn't illegal. And when you post it on DD for people to download, we cannot take any risks.
To be honest, it took me a while to get my head around it, but it does make sense...

Yes, I get that. Originally I was wondering if Youtube clearly deleted a video of a song or something, and then somebody re-up'd it and posted it in on DD, would that be considered copyright infringement. The whole "Too Soon" HQ thing made me wonder that.
Then I watched what was going down with Marcelwithluv in his ROTSG project thing and we were all confused because we didnt' see him post any download links, just Youtube. But HE was the one that confused us, by getting warned about a DL link of a music video in a completely different topic, but then associating it with that thread. Karine cleared it up for me (and the others who were wondering what's going on).
I don't like to make a stink, but I do like to be clear, thank you for clearing it up!
