Supposed US deal

Postby Stewie » 02 Oct 2011, 17:55

This is likely to be a big fake rumor, but I secretly hope it is true.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/rehab/view/213884/The-Saturdays-are-fired-up-for-the-US/

THE SATURDAYS ARE FIRED UP FOR THE US

THE Saturdays look set to be the first UK girl group to crack America since the Spice Girls after landing a big-money TV deal with E! Entertainment.

The All Fired Up fivesome will be flying to America in the next few weeks to put pen to paper and launch an assault on the charts.

Despite rumours that the girls are to split due to Una Healy being up the duff, I can reveal the group will:

● Sign a five-season deal with E! for their own reality TV series.
● Attempt to crack the US by signing a new deal with a US record label.
● Move to America (minus Una) after their UK tour finishes to set up home Stateside.

My Saturdays snitch told me: “This deal is huge for the girls.

“If it goes well it could transform them from a UK girl band to international stars.

“The series will show the girls trying to crack the States after landing a US record deal – which has already been lined up.

“US showbiz blogger Perez Hilton is expected to feature in the first episode as he champions the band and vows to help them become the next big thing.”

The deal could be a major break-through for the girls but it couldn’t have come at a worse time for preggers Una.

I’m told the Irish babe will miss part of the show’s first series because of her ever-expanding baby bump.

But before her fans start crying into their cornflakes I can reveal she WILL be making a comeback in the second series.

My insider added: “Una is gutted she can’t spend as much time in America as the others but she’s not leaving the group. She will be back with a bang for season two.”

It seems Up really is where the Sats go from here!

If it's true, FANTASTIC!

But, why would they want to crack America with Una absent?

Why on earth would they try and crack the US with one member absent? Makes no sense.

why don't they just wait to do this like... 1 year from now? this would give not only Una, but all the other girls time enough to be prepared and to promote their next album in the UK first.

It just sounds ridiculous to try and launch a band in America while one member will be heavily pregnant / on maternity leave. It's not the right time. :dizzy:

I think if they were to start filming it now, while they do their first Arena tour, unas pregnancy, new album etc, i think there will be enough material for a good series. Film for 6 months and have it air middle of next year.

I'm curious how they are going to market them to an audience on E! Who in America is going to give a shit, besides the few fans that may be over here? What are they going to do to make people want to watch it? A series about a girl group working in the UK with moderate success, being shown in the US where they are completely unknown... just doesn't make sense.

Have you not seen any of the other E Series?

Keeping Up With The Kardashians... three sisters who work in a clothing store.
The L Word - bunch of non famous lesbians
The Spin Crowd - A PR company

I think it'd be quite interesting to see a girl band try and crack America. Plus E don't really censor out the juicy bits, so we may see a few vids of the girls clashing etc. I'm all for it. They do't have anything to lose.

I see your point, but a lot of the time they come out with these new series and they never make it.

The Spin Crowd was cancelled after 7 episodes :$

I think they should see how the new album performs in the UK first and if it goes platinum try and pursue this next year after Una's had the baby.

well, their careers have been damaged pretty much already... flopping in one more country wouldn't make a big difference LoL

^a bit of a flop? It's a big flop, same as the single.

And I don't think her lack of success with this album/single has anything to do with the type of music they're doing. The problem with the tour is that they think they're bigger than what they actually are. They had no problems with the theatres tour earlier in the year. And the album flopping is all down to bad promotion, bad release date and a weak single choice to launch it.

All Fired Up has reach the 200k mark, which isn't amazing, but it shows their good songs still sell. They just need to do more promo, release the right songs and realize that they're no Girls Aloud or Spice Girls.

I tend to agree you saying that, they are more like parade than girls aloud or the spice girls

Yes they are!

You can't really deny the fact that they have had success. 3.2 million records sold, and 2 sold out tours, 2 documentaries isn't at all terrible.
Plus they provide music that is sometimes far more listenable that what is on the charts atm!

I don't think Parade have any fans at all.

The Sats have at least us.
