Fave B Side?

Postby schizophonic_spice » 16 May 2012, 22:44

I have been listening to them all again and they really have released some quality B Sides some of which could easily have been good singles.

My fave is still Flashback however I really love Ladykiller, Ready to Rise & Not That Kinda Girl almost as much.

I'm probably in the minority, but i chose Turn Myself In.

They should put their B Sides on Itunes !

I really like 'I Can't Wait', that's what I've voted for. Second would probably be 'Flashback'!

There's so many of their B-Sides that I absolutely love but I think my favorite overall is "Ladykiller" so I went with that

Also went with Unofficial. Other favourites are I'm So Stupid and now Turn Myself In.

Also, I would like to state before the circle jerk commences Golden Rules is the worst thing they've ever recorded.

I don't actually think I've listened to Golden Rules all the way through ever. I get to the first few seconds then change it!

God, I remember when it first came out and people praised it to no end. "I cannot" has never been more appropriate.

I never liked 'Golden Rules' either. The premise/lyrics of that song - cringe-worthy!

Hard to choose just one option. My top 3 would be Crashing Down, Not That Kinda Girl and Turn Myself In. I voted the last one.

I adore Turn Myself In but thought the studio version is to 'new' for me to vote for it. No doubt it'll be my number one soon.

Looking at how strong their B-Sides are, how would you guys feel if they included some on a US album? You have to admit that some are massively better than what they pile onto some of their albums!

^I think Unofficial, I Can't Wait, Flashback, Not That Kinda Girl, Ladykiller and Turn Myself In were strong enough to be album tracks. But if they ever release a US album I think a collection of their best singles + outstanding albums tracks would be the best option, there's no room for b-sides really.

"Had It With Today" would've been one of my fave b-sides if the other girls had parts on it. But the fact that it sounds like a Una solo song with Rochelle doing adlibs makes me look at it as if it was another solo version of her own song.

^ True, it'd be one of my favorites, if the others got some lines. Luckily the same didn't happen with 'Unofficial' and Vanessa.

I went with 'Ladykiller'.
'All Fired Up' is really excellent for me indeed, it has my favorite a-side and b-side.

But I don't get the hate for 'Golden Rules'. It was the first time they went with such a sassy sound. Had vocals been mixed better, it'd be less cheap. Other b-sides overshadowed it, but at the time it was my favorite.

Basically I love all their b-sides, except for 'Beggin' and 'So Stupid'. 'What Am I Gonna Do' and 'Crashing Down' are ok.

I even dare to say that Notorious / Not That Kinda Girl was also better.

+1
but i only need to say: with Notorious/NTKG, b-side is better than the actual single; with Up/CD pair, that's not the case :)

The 'All Fired Up' release spoiled their flow of 'Single + B Side' CD releases, as they were split across two different CDs. I was never particularly keen that the maxi CD is the same as the promo cover. Plus I'll never get over the other CD not being available unsigned. :p
