Would you buy...

Postby RainbowNerdette » 14 Jun 2012, 16:03

Slightly more expensive clothes (mid range prices) size 10 and up, specifically designed to suit bigger body types and celebrate the curves rather than hide them?

Looking into designing a line like that out of sheer annoyance that plus size clothes are usually either just big versions of "skinny people's clothes" or tents that make a body look like a blob, there isn't really much that makes curvy women look their best.

For the style I was thinking about a midway cross between casual high street fashion and what Victoria Beckham designs (except less dressy, more every day ish) Simple yet elegant clothes that are comfy to wear and suitable for every day use as well as (with some accesoirising) for special ocasions would be my objective.

Yay or Nay?

I think this is a really good idea personally. I'm sure there is a market for it, I am not that familiar with plus size clothes but I know some of my friends have had trouble with finding clothes that they like which make them look good. If you do decide to go with it then good luck.

I'd like that. Sometime "regular" clothes, just hit me in the wrong place and I'm too small for 14+ size (somehow, a 14 at a plus size store is way bigger than a 14 at a regular store, go figure)

yeah I think that would be a good idea. Even in main shops lately Ive been having trouble. technically im only a size 10, but clothes seem to be made for size 6 and stretched. Even by 10 nowadays I find the arm holes are too small or the waist of trousers just sit in the wrong place. I love dresses and stuff and a lot of the time I think some plus size shops have lovely clothes which just won't fit me but would suit my shape. I am a size 10 waist but 12 to get over my ass. Im like a small very curvy person, which looks fab... until I put clothes on!

Thanks for all the answers! Once I finish some more designs I'll start writing in to companies that might want to (help me) produce my line.

I really hate that only average sized women can get proper clothes. I've got some trouble getting trousers myself. TBeing tall and skinny they're always either too big in the waist or too short in the legs, but having put on a bit more weight I can now wear several brands :-D

But the real trouble is, like I said, for curvy women and I want that solved as I love looking at curvy girls in fabulous clothes

When I was thin, my problem was fiding tops that would fit. Somehow, they expect that a size 7-8 girls has C cups boob, sorry but it's not always the case. I was A back then and a lot of things looked hidious on me.

^ I usually buy kids tops, it's a blessing that (pre-) teens have such grownup styles these days when they're still boobless. Stuff for 10-12 year olds fits me perfectly X-D
