Its ok but it kinda doesn't sound like a Take That comeback more a Mark Owen lead single.

Patience, Greatest Day, Rule the World & The Flood all had something special this however is just average pop fodder.

Bottom line catchy song just not classic Take That comeback quality.

Regardless it's a perfect pop tune. Who cares about classics when you have a perfectly catchy radio friendly record? I am sure the rest of the album will include more Take That-ish sounding songs

As if they had written and recorded the whole album in the past 2 weeks. It's obvious they've pulled a Keisha and removed all of Jason's vocals. I'm sure we might have even see some credits on some songs, unless Jason actually didn't write a single word on first instance.

I think it's more likely that Jason hasn't been involved in the project at all, it just wasn't made official until 2 weeks ago?

Jason supposedly expressed reservations to them (regarding doing any more with the group) straight after the Progress era ended. Perhaps the option for him to continue came some time last month (or even earlier) when it was time to put the finishing touches to the album, after the other 3 three had done the bulk of the work for it, but he decided that he definitely didn't want to.

has jason ever had any input? lol i don't think his vocals are on most of take that's back catalogue. he just mime's the background vocals which are just gary's (and mark's) layered vocals. it's pretty common in groups (pcd, n'sync, eternal, destiny's child... etc). this usually happens in any group that has a lead singer

:D at least Kelly and Michelle managed to get solo verses in most songs. :dee:

That's only during DC V3.0? I dun think DC V1.0 and DC V2.0 ever had solo verses for non-Beyonce members, not that I can recall.

Yeah, that's why I said "Kelly and Michelle" that implied it was 3.0, although Kelly had some solo verses prior to 'Survivor'. She does have some solo vocals on 'Bills Bills Bills' and I guess there are a few more but I can't remember (and can't be arsed).

I remember a TV interview they gave circa 2000 where Beyonce said something like "We're innovating. I sing the first verse, Kelly sings the second verse and Michelle does the bridge. That's something any other girl band has made before" and I was like... yeah bitch, just because you were used to sing everything and now you've allowed the others to have some vocals, it doesn't mean it has never been done before. :D

^Now that you guys have reminded me, Kelly does have a few solo verses here and there pre-V3.0.

I think I've read somewhere that Jason was not involved at all but they always said that if he still wants to join, he is more to welcome. That was also the reason why they released the cover art now that he announced that he won't be part of it and not earlier.

Anyway, I really enjoy the song and I'm sure it is going to be a hit!

Didn't like it. What's with the bit during the second chorus (2:16 - 2:23)? They forgot to shoot that part and had to fix it with random footage?

I don't know... That kind of video doesn't suit them, imo.

I'd say the video suited them (and the song) - as a vibe it reminded me a lot of their tours. Very over the top, camp and flamboyant looking!

Hopefully the single does well, but I'm definitely not expecting #1 for them.

^Maybe it's because I haven't seen any of their tours. I do believe it suits the song, but not themselves as a band. Maybe because Gary is like too serious for that kind of video, I don't know... Maybe it's not the video itself but the overall cheap look or the 'photography' that looks old (maybe on purpose) and low budget.

The song hasn't grown on me, though. I like it but I don't need to play it again. I hope the album is better.

There's definitely a disconnect between their tours and their music videos since the comeback! The music videos were usually fairly serious, but their tours are always very colourful, camp, loads of dancers in unusual outfits, "out there" costumes for Take That, very elaborate stage designs & props and so forth! So this video for 'These Days' is definitely an element of Take That that has been explored a lot of times before now. I think anyone familiar with their tours won't raise an eyebrow at the video.

It looks like 'These Days' will become Take That's first #1 since 2008's 'Greatest Day'! That's quite surprising, I was thinking a Top 5 would be all they'd achieve this time around. Seems like there's still plenty of support for them as a 3 piece!

The Official Charts Company revealed their Top 40 best selling tracks in the UK:

'Congratulations to Take That, who enter straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart with These Days'

I just love this jam! One of their best.
