Girls Aloud

Postby Jay » 25 Dec 2009, 00:37

Thought it'd be an idea to make a thread where we can chat about Girls Aloud as a group while they're not active, about things that are probably not worth making a new thread for every time, just random discussion.

Don't know if this'll work but we'll see!

Dom pointed out to me that Girls Aloud's 'The Sound Of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits' is the biggest selling album by a UK girl group of the 2000s in the UK (that's wordy, lol). That's pretty impressive! Its total sales are currently at 1,103,800.

Taking into account girl groups that hail from outside of the UK, it is the 2nd highest. Pussycat Dolls' debut album PCD has sold more - over 1,200,000 in the UK.

Yup I like this idea!!!

Very random thing but it just popped into my head - I love the verses in It's Your Dynamite that Cheryl and Nadine sing. The dramatic bridges, love them.

I hope the next album is more dance-oriented.

i feel kinda afraid and intrigued , watching how cheryl and nadine are making their solo plans public for next year including her wishes to make all the impossible things to break the USA market , but what if they really success ..... will there be enough time for UK and USA but most of all for the group instead during next year ?? i know they have a contract deal that push them to keep in the group for the next 3 albums but i would be dissapointed if they focus in their solo career and just sing for the group to fulfill requirements for the company due to a contract and barely complying fans
everytime im neaaaaaar uuu i lose controol!!

well thats what's happening to nicole from pcd right now, she doesn't want to be in the group anymore and didn't want to after the first album which is why she didn't even bother to care what really went on the 2nd pcd album. keri hilson even said that nicole has recorded some really great songs but the pussycat dolls seem to be holding her back because shes in a contract with them

:$

I knew the Sugababes have never had a million selling album, but I wasn't sure about the Spice Girls Forever & GH or Atomic Kittens' sales.

She is my favourite b-side, Nadine and Kimberley sound amazing on it.

She - Memory Of You - It's Your Dynamite is surely their best run of b-sides so far? My favourite GA lyric is probably "Lie awake as day is dawning, burning pink and black" - amazing.

For obvious reasons, I've been listening to their Christmas CD and - God, I just LOVE Count The Days! It would've been an infinitely more appropriate release than the hideous See The Day

I also would have enjoyed Count The Days as a single. Image Though I do really like See The Day. Maybe a double A side, hehe.

I miss them. :(

Anyway, Tangled Up was my favorite album for a long time, but since the OOC tour, I'm thinking that might be my favorite. The two of them are definitely close. I love most of their older stuff, but I wasn't a fan back then (had no clue who they were til I joined this forum), so it seems like a decently different sound than the sound they have now.

I'm with you. "See The Day" was my fav. Girls Aloud song (before "Untouchable", "Can't Speak French" and "Call The Shots" come along). Hehehhe.

Regarding See the Day, I wish it was a little more darker and had Kim singing a line or two. To me, it just feels like the label were trying to pull off another I'llk Stand By You.

'See the Day' isn't bad, but it's definitely not in my top 5. I much prefer the demo that Nadine did when it was just her singing the lead vocals.

I'd happily kill for a CD version of Nadine's See The Day! It's beautiful.

The See The Day (Nadine Demo) is beautiful. I remember when it debuted and I was like 'erm, this is just Nadine!... well, good call!' :$ I like the background being more subdued too.

I may be wrong, but did Girls Aloud perform See the Day at some gig as a 4 piece? I think Sarah had an illness or something?

im sure someone did a rip of it and it sounded a bit diff from the album version. And Nadines solo version is really good, i prefer that chorus to the real one, sounds a lil more Christmassy to me.
