Something Kinda Ooooh is where I felt they had really stepped up their game, then when the video came out I was pretty shocked at how shit it was, but I think that's because I had only seen the unfinished edit where lots of effects hadn't been added.

Been listening to their music pretty much nonstop the last week or so. I miss them as a group. They made such great pop music.

'Something Kinda Ooooh' is one of my favorite songs :inlove: that & 'Call The Shots' were really the two songs that got me very invested in the group as a fan.

Something Kinda Ooooh is one of my favorite songs but I agree that video left a lot to be desired.

I'm shocked Nicola came to her defense. That's a rather odd turn of events

(I last updated this on 25th June 2015) Girls Aloud's singles in order of "most played" on Spotify:

4,259,483 - Sound of the Underground (+ 1,973,499)
4,107,955 - Something New (+ 847,546)
3,460,475 - Jump (+ 1,243,603)
2,979,501 - The Promise (+ 827,334) [2 versions combined]
2,929,429 - Love Machine (+ 1,305,375)
2,508,099 - I'll Stand By You (+ 496,456)
2,498,261 - Something Kinda Ooooh (+ 882,690)
2,019,002 - Biology (+ 716,323)
1,645,774 - Call The Shots (+ 478,985)
1,627,279 - The Loving Kind (+ 330,366) [2 versions combined]
1,414,965 - Untouchable (+ 263,050) [2 versions combined]
1,386,313 - Can't Speak French (+ 376,546) [2 versions combined]
1,281,301 - Sexy! No No No... (+ 338,274)
950,105 - The Show (+ 277,939)
942,568 - No Good Advice (+ 263,573)
643,355 - See The Day (+ 194,533)
542,427 - Whole Lotta History (+ 141,017)
510,141 - Wake Me Up (+ 122,451) [2 versions combined]
491,996 - Beautiful 'Cause You Love Me (+ 136,161)
486,750 - Long Hot Summer (+ 155,227)
369,862 - Life Got Cold (+ 82,215) [2 versions combined]
367,879 - Walk This Way (+ 108,648)
286,939 - I Think We're Alone Now (+ 58,186)

(Doesn't include plays of club remixes)

Spoiler: show
918,721 - Can't Speak French (Radio Edit) (+269,470)
467,592 - Can't Speak French (Tangled Up) (+107,076)

220,466 - Life Got Cold (SOTU original) (+28,931)
149,396 - Life Got Cold (SOTU re-release) (+53,284)

821,278 - The Loving Kind (Radio Edit) (+231,429)
806,001 - The Loving Kind (Out of Control) (+98,937)

1,860,577 - The Promise (Radio Edit) (+662,695)
1,118,924 - The Promise (Out of Control) (+164,639)

548,929 - Untouchable (Radio Mix) (+174,347)
866,036 - Untouchable (Out of Control) (+88,703)

352,746 - Wake Me Up (What Will The Neighbours Say?) (+67,212)
157,395 - Wake Me Up (Ten) (+55,239)

So looking at the number of plays since my last update, it shows that 'Sound of the Underground', 'Love Machine' and 'Jump' have stood the test of time for Girls Aloud in the streaming era. On the other end of the spectrum, 'Life Got Cold' and 'I Think We're Alone Now' are pretty forgotten about!

Spoiler: show

882,690 - Something Kinda Ooooh

I Think We're Alone Now was and still is an awful cover in all honesty.

Whole Lotta History doesn't deserve to be listened to less times than Long Hot Summer though.

thought their numbers would be higher considering the Sugababes top 3 on spotify have more plays than Girls Aloud's entire singles discography

14,960,523 - Push The Button
11,724,634 - About You Now

Girls Aloud were The Saturdays of their time, they mostly scraped by and had one big-ish era when they lived off Cheryl being on X factor.

All of their studio albums certifying at least platinum, making the Top 10 twenty times in a row, a quadruple platinum hits collection & and packing out arenas on a yearly basis (in support of 4 different album eras), is not how I'd define mostly scraping by! :music:

Sugababes' Spotify figures are larger because they were far more well-known throughout Europe, so it stands to reason that they'd have more listeners than GA and that their biggest hits would amass more plays.

Since when is having 4 albums sell over half a million, the rest going platinum, having 4 #1 singles, 16 top 5's, 21 top 10's (20 of which were consecutive), 5 sell out arena tours as well as being the 7th best selling singles act of the 00's decade (above Suga's at #10) "scraping by with one big-ish era where they lived off Cheryl being on X-factor."???.. :nono: "

Also would like to point out 0 line up changes compared to Sugababes' 4 lol I can't think of many pop groups who have lasted such a long time with its original line up. That within itself is a success.

In the Saturdays defense, had they been around the same time as the Sugababes, I'm sure they would've been a lot more successful in terms of sales and touring.

Platinum albums were nothing to shout about in the 2000's, Sugababes had what 3 that were triple platinum. Their tours had curtained off areas and weren't exactly big. They didn't sell in Europe because they couldn't.

For a 2000's act they were average, most of their career was made on a rabid fanbase who got them high peaking singles that fell off the charts soon after, not to mention a quarter of their singles out put was covers.

GA didn't have a "curtained-off areas" situation going on for their tours, take it from me and others here who actually went to see them regularly. They performed at full capacity.

Girls Aloud place 5th in the "Top 50 Most Weeks On Singles Chart For The Decade 2000-2009" list - the highest placed British act (1st: Kanye West / 2nd: Eminem / 3rd: Jay-Z / 4th: Rihanna).

Like Spicefreak said, they were the 7th best selling singles act of the 2000s, and again, that made them the highest placed British act (1st: Eminem / 2nd: Westlife / 3rd: Britney Spears / 4th: Black Eyed Peas / 5th: Rihanna / 6th: Beyoncé).

So quite how that makes them "average" I'm not sure!

sammy01 wrote:Platinum albums were nothing to shout about in the 2000's, Sugababes had what 3 that were triple platinum

Platinum and higher was nothing to be sniffed at.

4xPlatinum - #01 - 'The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits' (Girls Aloud)

2xPlatinum - #01 - 'Out of Control' (Girls Aloud)
2xPlatinum - #01 - 'Taller In More Ways' (Sugababes)
2xPlatinum - #03 - 'Three' (Sugababes)
2xPlatinum - #03 - 'Overloaded: The Singles Collection' (Sugababes)
2xPlatinum - #06 - 'What Will The Neighbours Say?' (Girls Aloud)
Platinum - #01 - 'Change' (Sugababes)
Platinum - #02 - 'Sound of the Underground' (Girls Aloud)
Platinum - #04 - 'Tangled Up' (Girls Aloud)
Platinum - #11 - 'Chemistry' (Girls Aloud)
Gold - #09 - 'Ten' (Girls Aloud)
Silver - #08 - 'Catfights and Spotlights' (Sugababes)
Did Not Certify - #14 - 'Sweet 7' (Sugababes)

They certainly did on their last tour, they even cut in crowd shots from their tour before to make it look better, unless everyone came again in the same outfit as the tour before.

I know I mostly just lurk here, but the amount of crap that Sammyminus1 spouts is mind numbingly dull and repetitive. I don't know how you all put up? Girls Aloud were hugely successful in the 00s in terms of music. Sales were in a different place though, and people need to understand that. They wouldn't have lasted as long as they did if they weren't doing well. There were no curtained off areas on their tours, that's Rihanna on the Anti tour you're probably getting muddled up with.

Do your homework.

This this this this this! I don't know why some are so keen to diminish what they achieved together. They were factually one of the biggest acts of the 2000s in the UK, it really can't be disputed.
