Get ready then because 'The Cure' is doing amazing on Australian iTunes (in fact it's still #1 on there), it's going up on Spotify and radios are starting to play it loads, so don't worry, you will be hearing her again in no time.

Guess who has reduced the price of 'the cure' on uk itunes after less than 1 week of release, yes the queen of desperation for a hit.

When it comes to UK iTunes, recently it's becoming quite common for relatively new singles to be reduced to 59p. It's a good tactic and well timed! It should help create stability on iTunes, now that most of the stans have probably bought it already, and it should encourage casual purchases to occur as it gains more attention on radio.

It was a while I didn't see Sammy's posts thanks to the foes option, but it's good to see he hasn't changed his ways, now that Vomiting Porpoise is gone he needs to troll even harder.

Jay wrote:'The Cure' is performing well on Spotify so far though, particularly for a song which isn't on the Hot Hits UK playlist (yet), and like I mentioned, didn't get an initial boost from being included on the New Music Friday playlist. It's only been out since Sunday, it's far too soon to judge it for how its doing yet! Initial signs are positive though. There's a buzz around this song.

iTunes (and downloads in general) don't mean "nothing" yet. Obviously "sales" from streaming is swamping pure sales at this point, but still, 325,000 sales contribute towards the Top 40 songs this week, which still makes a significant enough difference in determining the order of songs in the official chart.

As for Gaga making it to #1 on iTunes, it's literally only just been knocked off in the past hour, Wednesday evening. A decent run at #1 for a new song that's yet to establish itself on radio, doesn't have a music video etc.

This week the #1 in paid for sales was the lowest ever, downloads are dead.

Obviously downloads aren't the force they once were, but there's still over a million downloads sold per week across the board, so there's still a market for it, even if it's reduced compared to what it was. I wouldn't say it was dead at this point.

'The Cure' in at #23 this week! Gaga's single peaks here (within Top 40):

#1 - Just Dance / Poker Face / Bad Romance / Telephone
#3 - Born This Way
#4 - Paparazzi
#5 - Applause
#6 - The Edge of Glory
#7 - Alejandro
#8 - Judas
#9 - Do What U Want
#12 - Chillin / Perfect Illusion
#16 - Marry the Night
#19 - LoveGame
#23 - You and I / The Cure
#39 - Million Reasons

Streaming has a higher impact on the charts than actual sales/downloads anyway, and to be fair I'm sure most of these decisions come from management or the record label/investors as to what price to sell music for. Can't imagine Lady Gaga crying to her label begging for any strategy to get a hit.

Jay wrote:Gaga's embarking on the Joanne tour from August to December, so in that sense the era is far from over! Will be interesting if she'll release anything else from Joanne as a single though. 'John Wayne' did absolutely nothing following the music video, to the point it's simply referred to as being an "other charted song" on her wiki page lol, it's not even being claimed as a promotional single.

'The Cure' would certainly be an odd fit for a Joanne re-release, unless she has a 'The Fame Monster' style release in mind. Bar the fact it was packaged with The Fame, it still felt like quite a separate project.

Rumor has it she's releasing a new EP before the tour. which is said to be pop.

Entered the Australian Aria chart at 17. Hardly a smash. Ah well ...

Radio One seems to have snubbed her. :)

No one mentioned the word 'smash' but you, hope you do see that.

Anyway, #10 in Australia this week, so give it time.
