Bananarama

Postby IconicSpice » 13 May 2012, 21:18

There Should be a Bananarama Forum! #these ladies were the original British girl group, they have more hits than the spice girls, more record sales than girls aloud, they were as almost as famous as the spice girls in their time in the music industry through the eighties, in my opinion they defined eighties pop. Mel B and Emma are known fans of the band, Emma has stated that her first concert was a bananarama concert, and Mel B was interviewed for a documentary about them and stated she was a big fan and that they were original girl power! I personally think they influenced the spice girls a lot and I sometimes wonder if without bananarama we would have had the spice girls.

One the bands album covers, this was the last album to feature Siobahn Fahey who left the band....

Some of the most famous Bananarama song for those who are unfamiliar:

Venus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZipH_L7ggo
Robert De Niro's Waiting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zgzx1keRDJU&feature=fvst
Love in the First Degree: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nl46l8XHvg

So with all this in mind I think their should be a Bananarama forum in this section, I know they are not active as much anymore, but neither are the spice girls and we all enjoy discussing the past, the band will be 30 years old this year and I think denden should honor it by creating a Bananarama forum here, I'm sure there must be a few fans here!

Yeah, bring in a forum that'd get used less than the Sarah Connor one, that's what DD needs. A thread for them, yeah, why not, but a forum? There'd be no point.

It's a matter of fact; it wouldn't get used enough to warrant a place on DenDen.

I really don't think so. You'll be lucky if this thread alone has active discussion.

However, if you want to make this suggestion because you feel it'd be beneficial for DenDen, then post it in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=209612 because that's where we're taking into account all feedback.

I legitimately thought this was a mock thread when I clicked on it. I was shocked to realize it is serious.

I see that maybe a thread might be in order then, but I dont see why a lot of people are anti Bananarama, they are the original britsh girl band!

No-one is 'anti'-Bananarama as a group, I like them, I think they had some fantastic hits. But it'd be a waste of space on DenDen to have an entire forum to themselves when indeed a thread would suffice.

Oh yes, I forgot Dublin was in the UK still, you're quite right (: I bet Siobhan is proud of her all British girl group. Or are you more of a Jacquie fan and you try and airbrush the Irish members out of the group's history?

do you vote BNP dear? (: x

We heard a rumour... and it happens to be true!

In October, our friends at Edsel Records are reissuing the first six albums by everyone's favourite girl group, the very legendary Bananarama, all as remastered Deluxe 2CD + DVD Editions.

There's been a lot of speculation about the content of these releases. But since August is almost over, we feel a cruel summer has dragged on long enough. So at 10:30pm tonight... we will exclusively announce the tracklistings!
