I'm so happy for Una I truly expected this to miss the UK Top 40. She deserves it as it's a lovely little album and her voice sounds wonderful.

So Queen Mollindria can't make the top 40 with her song yet BORING DAY can get into the top 20?

Una has played to her strengths and tapped into a different audience. Mollie was never going to happen, she had nothing to offer that was different or cool.

Her strengths being the fact she's boring and can play guitar and 'different' audience being bland, boring people who think that an Emma Bunton album is daring.

Midweek #20 today, so I'd be surprised if it manages to hold on in there. Still, it's so much higher than I would have assumed a week ago.

Yes that old use it as something derogatory that someone actually has a talent to play an instrument :dizzy: :death:

If you don't like her, why do you come here? You're doing exactly the same thing you criticize about sammy: going on a thread of an artist you don't care about only to throw shit.

Not sure what that's meant to mean?

I'm guessing the irony has slipped over someone's head.

Mid #30 today:

#15 - 2079 [Monday]
#20 - 2286 [Tuesday] (+207)
#24 - 2538 [Wednesday] (+252)
#30 - 2698 [Thursday] (+160)

If she's lucky she may remain at #30 for tomorrow's official chart, but there's a chance she'll fall to #31 or #32. I'd be surprised if she dipped any lower than that.

It really isn't a bad result for a former girl group member of a girl group that ended on a low 2,5 years ago.

A top 30 album for an ex Saturday is an achievement no matter how you look at it.

I'm sure she and the record company are delighted with that in the UK.

Yeah, an album from an ex-girlband member reaching 28 on a major record label with 3000 copies sold. I bet they're jumping for joy.

Who was it who was saying that exact same sentence when Nicola Roberts sold more and peaked higher...I wonder???

ok i've listened to the album and it's such a pleasant surprise!

Although i find these kind of songs pretty boring I really like some melodies... and her voice sounds mature and great actually, i always thought her solo parts in the group were just average!

Battlelines, SOS, Out the door are my faves and Stay my love really grew on me
niiceeee :)

You can't really compare the two. GA were much bigger than The Saturdays; Out Of Control was double platinum, while Finest Selection only managed to sell 30k (ish). Also, Nicola had quite a decent campaign to launch her solo career, she was everywhere with Beat Of My Drum. Has Una ever actually performed her single on TV? Plus, I may be wrong, but I don't think Decca Records can be consdidred a major record label either. The fact is no one really expected her to chart within the Top 40, so debuting at 28 is indeed a pleasant surprise.

To be fair - it seems like she recorded the bulk of this album before signing to Decca. So there's a fair amount of cost away.

I mean, Decca won't release album #2, but I don't think they made a massive loss either.
