I wonder why Victoria referred to herself as "Adams-Wood" when she was only engaged(?) to him (at 19, God lol).

I'm just reading that part in her book.

" One thing I had got from Bertie was my Equity card. In those days the actors union was a closed shop[...] This also meant that I had to change my name- the rule is that you cant use the same name as another member of the union, even if it's your real name. And it turned out there was someone called Victoria Adams already registered with Equity. So Mark Durr-Brain Wood suggested Victoria Wood. [...] so I became Victoria Adams Wood."

Although I'm sure their success had a lot to do with it being THOSE particular 5 girls - you can't really say that because one of the others could just have easily have made it in and now you'd be going "Ew, what if that Mel C girl had been picked - it just wouldn't be the same". You can only say that knowing now how it all turned out. But isn't a fair assumption.

It's so weird that some girls who were just taking this audition so casually, missed the first or second one, ended up making it.

*Geri Halliwell had seen the ad but went skiing in Spain and missed the audition.

For Geri, Emma, and Mel C it was destiny taking a hand!

In fact, the girls talk about them in their biographies, but don't mention their names.
Geri talks about a short haired blond girl with big nose, so that must be Melanie Laccohee.
And they all talk about a Welsh girl who was selected as one of the five but later didn't turn up as Melanie C appeared, and that is Lianne Morgan.

in geris bio If Only she said she read the audition ad while in a bathtub getting ready to commit suicide, but then sometimes she says she missed the audition bcus she was sking. Which one is the truth?

Actually, she wasn't ski-ing. She had BEEN ski-ing, got sunburnt and her face looked red and swollen. She didn't turn up out of vanity, not because she was away

She doesn't explicitly say she was considering suicide. But she was severely depressed. She actually says that she was looking at herself in the mirror and she noticed she'd taped the ad to it a couple of months previous.

Then she says something about her weight dropping to 6 stone, not having the energy to get out of bed, someone trying to tell her she was anorexic and to get help blah blah blah.

Nothing about a bath. Or suicide.
