It's certified for having shipped 3 million physicals in the UK, but it hasn't actually sold that much! :(

UK OCC Album Downloads Chart
89 (Re) Greatest Hits - Spice Girls

Not Top 100 in the overall chart. We'll see if it made the Top 200.

Does anyone know what counts as one sale for both a single and an album?

For example, would you have to buy the GH off of Amazon or iTunes, and say, for Wannabe, would you have to download the album track off Spice or the radio edit version?

Thank you.

I was looking at the UK's million selling singles

Apart from The Beatles who have 6, Rihanna who has 4 and Pharrell who has 3, every other artist on the list has 2; including the Spice Girls - wouldn't it be great if SYBT got to 1 million, then they'd be the 2nd group behind The Beatles, with 3 million sellers and the 4th most successful million sellers act of all time! Please, let's make this happen! :D

#SYBTTo1Million :D

Too bad 'Say You'll Be There' and 'Goodbye' never passed 1 million. They were both fairly close.

I see that the GH has been on the Mongolian iTunes chart on and off for a few weeks, I wonder how many it's sold since the 2012 Olympics worldwide and since the Wannabe anniversary, as well as in the UK.

http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-new ... re__16652/

The change in direction didn't faze fans, and Say You'll Be There flew off the shelves (singles were sold on shelves in shops then), shifting 323,670 copies in that very first week.

In the last 20 years, it's sold 961,000 copies, and around 40 people a week are still buying it. Who knew?! Say You'll Be There was the fourth biggest selling song of 1996. Spice Girls actually occupied three spaces in the yearly Top 5, thanks to Wannabe (2) and the third single 2 Become 1 (5)

I would if I could, as far as I'm aware official totals aren't known for either song, and I wouldn't know what to predict them as having sold unfortunately.

'Headlines' revealed as having sold 51,000 (source: editor of Official Charts) - https://twitter.com/LoveCulture/status/ ... 2779974656 Presumably this is literally just its sales (physicals/downloads) and not including any streaming data (which probably wouldn't bump up its total particularly significantly anyway lol).

As far as I can see, the first post is as up to date as it can be with all the information that is available. If you spot something I've not updated, please let me know (and include a source if possible)!

Thank you Jay for the update.

I'd love to know the GH UK sales update, it's a shame the Official Charts haven't posted it.

Actually it appeared that 2 Become 1 had sold over 429,000 copies during its first week on sale, but this latest article from the Official Charts page claims that it was 462,000 copies, which is just incredible.

Jay could you perhaps post an 'unoffical sales' section with the known sales we have or the estimated sales we have for Loving you, He's not heavy he's my brother (which we know sold 269,000 copies in it's first week and was certified Gold so is over 400,000 copies). There was a very in depth thread with more estimated sales information. I'd like to see it again if possible :p

Oh hi :p

If you look in the second post & click the spoiler tag directly underneath "Post prior to June 2015" there's some estimates in there, but with most of Melanie C's more recent singles it's pretty impossible to know what they've really sold beyond their first weeks, unfortunately, and with Anymore & Dear Life it's really anyone's guess considering they didn't make the Top 200!

Justice Collective was certified as Gold while it still hadn't actually sold 400,000 copies; the label would have applied for the 400k based on physical shipments taking it over that number, rather than it being based on the actual sales it achieved up to that point. Its sales in its 4 weeks inside the Top 75 were 269,248 + 90,859 + 13,000 (estimate) + 7,000 (estimate) = 380,000 approximately (gold certification was awarded within the week where it reached 380k). Those were with the chart positions 01-05-21-47. Beyond that it had a chart run of 91-157-out (maybe 3,000 + 1500, to lift it to 384,500~). So it's kind of difficult to tell whether it's likely to have ever genuinely crossed over 400k. That's why I left it out from the main list on the first page, as I prefer that to only include confirmed sales (even though a few of them are unfortunately very out of date these days).
