It should be noted that this list is based on pure sales only (physicals & downloads), no streaming data is included.

The last time the Official Charts Company did a list of Spice Girls' solo singles sales was in May 2013. The changes in order are as follows:

I Turn to You has overtaken Mi Chico Latino
Both Take My Breath Away and Not Such An Innocent Girl have passed Scream If You Wanna Go Faster
Maybe has now outsold Downtown
If That Were Me is now above Free Me
Loving You is the only new entry in the Top 40
Lullaby has overtaken Here It Comes Again

Quite surprised about If That Were Me & Lullaby advancing over Free Me & Here It Comes Again respectively at some point over the past 4 years. The last sales update we had for these four singles was way back in June 2009. Their sales totals at that point were:

55,563 - Free Me
53,595 - If That Were Me
39,890 - Here It Comes Again
38,898 - Lullaby

So by that logic If that were me's sales need to be updated to 55,564 minimum and Lullaby's sales need to be updated to 39,891 minimum?

I've put the singles into a new list based on the order from OCC and Jay's official sales (which I've rounded up or down slightly to make them whole rounded approximate sales)
I didn't include the ones after This Time as there were no official sales for those ones to compare against.

54. I know him so well (Melanie C and Emma Bunton) [#153] (4,000)
55. Anymore [N/A] (4,000)
56. Today [#41] (4,000)
57. This time [#94] (3,000)

All together the girls have sold over 14 million singles in the UK, damn impressive! When you then consider they have sold over 7 million albums in the UK too that puts their total over 21 million records! :inlove:

^ Thanks!

I'd have been interested to know what the list would have looked like with streaming data incorporated, maybe there'd be some subtle changes here and there. When You're Gone probably has a few tens of thousands extra from streaming. I'd be very surprised if Say You'll Be There isn't above 1m now with streaming (really want OCC to confirm this!)

I found that to be very curious too... it makes me wonder whether Melanie elected not to share the sales data with the OCC, which is a bit odd.

the other day i was checking some sales figures of Russian acts who were huge in 1997-1998 and some acts who were less famous as Spice Girls had sales like 700 000 for one album (Стрелки) for example.
Линда went on to sell 1500 000 her hit album back in 1997 (not including fake copies) so i would have predicted it
was around
Russia 1 700 000 - 2 000 000 with spice
Ukraine 300 000 - 500 000 in Ukraine

Spice World
Russia 700 000 - 1 000 000
Ukrain 300 000 - 500 000

Forever
Russia 100 000 - 150 000
Ukrain 50 000 - 100 000

Hi Sorry to bump this post, but I am always working on getting accurate sources to find out SG chart information so that I can add it to my blog.

Can I ask if you know any music websites or Russian certifications in relation to the SG. Did the first two albums sell 1 million or over?

Many thanks.

The Middle East region has over 400 million people, and the Spice Girls were massive all over Arabia.
I lived in Beirut and Dubai. Both cities had and still do have Virgin Megastores in addition to other proper record store chains.
Spice Girls albums on cassettes and CD's were sold legally, their songs received heavy radio and TV airplay. So many people I know owned a Spice Girls CD. Why their Middle Eastern sales are never covered?
I also imagine the same could be said about Israel, Egypt, Turkey etc...

Turkey has an official single and album chart since very long time. And first two album sold more than 1 millon copies. Wannabe and SUYL reached #1 and other songs including SYBT and Viva Forever did pretty well.

Hi Onur

Could I ask where you got the sales information for Spice and Spiceworld and also do you know where some of their songs charted? I'd be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi Onur

Thank you for replying.

Is that 1 million combined for Spice and Spiceworld or 1m each? Either way that's incredible sales for an international act in Turkey, right?

yes it's combined sales for both album. They were so HUGE in here until late 2000.

and all of their singles officially released here in Turkey and pretty sure Wannabe and SUYL reached #1.

from time to time i can still find some singles and official merchandises on stores.

According to their official website 'Wannabe' was #1 in Turkey, but it doesn't show Turkish position for SUYL.

In regards of the merch you're mentioning: Like what for example? Anything rare? ;)

In my opinion, she didn't shared it. Because we had such a weird release, she changed the dates for the UK release, but she sent the physical copies before christmas, so it was clearly a mess.

Cus they don't want to plough their own money down the drain to keep a few hundred fans happy :death:

Plus Geri is more impressive, 11 singles all released via a record label, pretty impressive.

Official Charts Company are inviting Twitter users to ask them for sales data! Only songs though, not albums.

https://twitter.com/officialcharts/stat ... 3113292803

Reply to this with any Spice Girls group / solo songs requests you have! It's for UK sales. Include #AskOfficialCharts in your tweet! :D

Edit: Here's my tweet requesting Say You'll Be There https://twitter.com/jayshore88/status/8 ... 1382079490 (if anyone here could like the tweet that would be great :inlove: )

because they have no fans and because they do not sell - they can't get a record deal. nothing impressive about Geri's 11 singles, of which most went nowhere. including the two released this year.

A few hundred is a bit stupid (concerning Melanie C), since her current record has half a million of streams on Spotify alone. That is impressive, considering that most people arent' even aware that she has an album out.

Does it hurt to be the one with all the answers all the time? Even more importantly, does it hurt having that big head up your own arsehole constantly? Or do you take pleasure from being your own buttplug? Too bad for the rest of us it doesn't stop shit coming out of you.

If only your head would actually constipate you, that would be a relief for the rest of us. And the perfect situation for you, seeing how you seem to love your own bullshit.

Speak for yourself!
Who are we then?! Why are we here, after all those years and still following them, admiring and waiting for new projects? I've bought Geri's AIC and certainly would buy MOTM if it would be available! Same with SFH! Cos I love all that music and am a fan! I understand that you're considering yourself a "hater" then?

PS: Geri released AIC under Warner so she has to have record deal, obviously.

Hannes84 wrote:nothing impressive about Geri's 11 singles, of which most went nowhere.

Easy maths: 4 #1s + 1 #2 + 1 #4 = 6 Top5 singles + 2 Top10 singles (which is still great!) = 8 hit singles plus 3 singles which can be considered flops. Verdict: 8hits > 3flops (of which one wasn't even released in UK!). Where do you have that "most of singles which went nowhere"?! Go back to school and learn to count maybe :D ?

Hannes84 wrote:including the two released this year.

Oh, really?! Can you enlight me what was the 2nd Geri's single released this year? Cos I know only about AIC? Unless you mean her feature in Artists for Grenfell Tower single? The #1 hit? :D

I think you shouldn't be talking about something you obviously have no idea about! Your post is full of bs, sadly!

It's really sad that people who used to be fans (am guessing? What would you be doing here if not?!) long time ago are only arguing with others now and trying to downgrade the Girls on every possible occasion. Cos you're not only hating on Geri, your opinion on Mel B is even worse! (If that's even possible!). It's really, really sad. Would love something big to happen, out of sadden, so everyone would be happy and focused on discussing something positive and not only bashing our Idols...
