December Song (I Dreamed of Christmas)" is a holiday single released by George Michael on December 25th, 2008. The track was originally announced during one of the last dates on George Michael's 25 Live tour. The track was available for free on George Michael's official website on December 25th and December 26th of 2008. It is scheduled to be released commercially in December 13, 2009.

The track was written by George Michael and longtime writing partner David Austin.

David Austin confirmed that the song had originally been written with the Spice Girls in mind. After a few failed deadlines, the song was going to be given to Michael Buble but George Michael decided to keep it for himself.

The song features a sample from the Frank Sinatra recording "Christmas Waltz".

I take it this was written years ago then? I can't believe someone would write this recently with the idea that the Spice Girls would release it now?

Well it's a gorgeous song and I think they'd sound good singing it. The girls have always taken pride in the fact that they write their own songs though. And for some reason it would be odd to hear them sing about Jesus.

It's pretty interesting to note that Spice Girls is probably one of the few UK pop bands which only release original songs as their singles.

He did write for the girls before/as they went back to Stannard/Rowe to record the brilliant Headlines and Voodoo. He didn't finish it in time/they decided to go in another direction.

^ haha i do like your sarcasm, though i do genuinely love Headlines! it's interesting to know that he wrote the track in some form for them, though as it probably would have been changed slightly im not interested in listening to George's version.

I don't mind Headlines but a George Michael single would have probably created a little more attention. Heard snippets of it, but it was not taken seriously. Go figure Simon Fuller.

Yeah that's old, well the thing about the song is, from the reunion time, I don't like George but I remember the song and it was nice, if it was the same song that is, but he did release a christmas song
