Lol I think it means the area of England he's in was there before the Spice Girls. (Or, Ireland before their Stop video). It's a dumb joke :)

It's kind of Alternative, not rock right? (Yeah, me being picky)...

I got it as a joke and also understood it as "prior the "Stop" video" cause it looks like the place where they shot it

It's a year today since Eliot Kennedy tweeted about how the girls had been recording a "hit song".

I guess he meant Song For Her, which is far from a "hit song" IMO.
Mel B said once they were deciding which single to release first, makes me think maybe they recorded more songs. We'll never know I guess.

Due to streaming it's hard to determine what could be a hit song in this day.

However with some more production work and mastering of the vocals I definetly could see Song for Her as a hit song with decent promotion. It has a wonderful chorus.

The chorus is great! It was stuck in my head for days. The verses could have used more work though...

The chorus was catchy but far from great. The lyrics are poor and the music production is something coming with a time machine from the 90s.

I think the chorus was great but they need stronger melodies and arrangements... like "Little mix" (to name an example) something with a loud bass...

And what's with them starting a song without a musical intro? (Headlines, Voodoo, Song For Her)...

Has anyone ever asked them if the song was still in demo form? It sounds good as is, but if they planned on amping it up a bit and mixing it a tab more...

Didn't Mel B label it an unfinished demo that wasn't supposed to get out to the general public?

Doesn't her dislike of Never Give Up on the Good Times just make her opinion null and void anyway?

Do articles get written begging the Backstreet Boys or New Kids on the Block to never step foot on a stage again? Telling NSYNC to never reform? I'm fully aware a woman wrote this article, but that does little to persuade me from thinking there's something a bit sexist about this. Past 40, women are forever being told in articles to hang it up. "You've lost what you had." "You just don't have that magic."

People get paid to write this. Whatever paycheck she got...I hope she uses it catch a concert for whatever artist she thinks isn't making money on tour or tending to their profile.

Ironically, Mel C stopped every plan the other girls wanted to do to keep the spice brand alive...who cares...

NGUOTGT is like one of heir worse songs. Lyrically it makes no sense at all and sounded like an 80s leftover back in 1997... I love the spice girls but not all their music.

Not sure where else to post this but since we are on the topic of NGUOTGT, i have recently re-watched GYE documentary and noticed that the earlier version of this song had a different lyrics:

Down and dirty city, feeling outta place
Down and dirty city, used to be their home
(Watch Geri at 26:26)

Never give up on the good times
Never look back on the bad times
(The lyrics sheet right after Geri)

The song could have been given a totally different title

^According to those lyrics and the arrows written on them, the original chorus was:

Everybody needs some affection
Gotta try get by whatever you're going.

Gotta remember the good times,
Never look back on the bad times, yeah
Gotta remember the good times,
Never look back on the bad times, yeah
-If you really bug me, then I'll say goodbye.

I'm pretty sure I heard the last part on some documentary (we would see them in Canes in it) of them filming some song recording with somone on the piano. There was bits of SUYL but I only remember NGUOTGT being different

Exactly! It's all about the vibe, the happiness. If this track doesn't get you in a happy mood there's something wrong with you. In my opinion this song is the essence of the Spice Girls. Positivity. Happiness. Getting together with good people and celebrating good times.

And I'm pretty sure the lyrics in the verses are nudging and referencing classic pop songs ("she used to be a chancer, sparkle in the rain, told me she needed a friend" and so on) (though I cannot prove this).
