Need help to identify a fake signature

Postby WhatTheHell » 23 Jul 2017, 20:32

Hi guys
Recently I bought a signed item by the girls. A Spiceworld cd signed by the five girls. I've check the signatures and, at first sight, they look genuine but I would like you to help me with it.
I already paid for it (it was cheap! about 40€ shipping included) and it is on its way but I can always send it back if it is not the real thing.

Let me know what do you think.

Looks suspicious to me. The fact that they're 5 different markers in different colored but all the same size and used with the same pression and so on makes me think they're fake.

Honestly they look very like the real ones but they also look like they were all made by the same person.

I know they do look a tad similar but I truly believe they are the genuine article. Victoria's signature looks exactly like hers.vthe curving of the capital V for a start. If you look at a signed copy of the official spice book they are all in different colour marker pen and Victoria's signature is virtually the same.

Thanks for your replies.

The fact that they signed with different markers is something they've done a lot. I've seen a bunch of different promo pictures from virgin signed this way.
By now, I think it's real. But I will take a better look once the item arrive.

I've seen them sign at even with different pens, but those looks a little suspicious, specially Melanie C and Victoria.

I'm sorry but I think it's a fake.
I don't use to buy signed items unless I can see a pic or something to proof it is genuine.

Edit: I need to say this. I can't believe we are in 2017 and people still buy things in ebay, discogs, etc.. Without knowing if the item is genuine or not.
Today I think there are more fake items than genuines.
I am not talking about signed things only, I'm talking about promos and more stuff. Don't believe in every fucking thing you see in internet... If we were in 2000 it would be easy to cheat someone, but now... Man! Be careful!
I'm angry because I have searched in ebay signed things and it's incredible...

Hey, calm down, no need to be rude to the poor guy here.

And I'm sorry, "WhatTheHell", they do look VERY fake, especially Victoria's and Mel C's :/

I didn't want to be rude, I'm spanish and maybe I didn't use the correct words. I'm sorry, I just wanted to advice him to be careful and try to invest a bit before buying. But if I was rude, I'm sorry.

And I think too that this is a fake because of Mel C and Victoria's sign too.

Actually, Mel C used to sign like that in the spice days. Nowadays her signature has changed.

It would be interesting to know who else bought this one. Do you have more info?

Work_of_Art wrote:just found this on ebay, maybe from the same seller

Yes, the same seller.
But some of the items he previously sold are definitely original signed items. Like the two Tatu items. I have a few signed cds by them and their signatures looks exactly like those ones. Or the Alanis Morriset cd.

It is true that he has a few Spice Girls signed items but so I have. He also sold a copy of SpiceWorld with Mel B's signature. My question is why only falsificate B's signature if you can do the rest?
About him having another signed spiceworld (a cassette this time)... did the girls do signing sessions back in the day? I know they did for the books but I do not remember if they did for the albums/singles.

I don't think so. If that was the case that would be really easy to see once I get the item. They might be fake hand made signatures but I don't think they're printed..

For me it's fake signatures. I try to explain (sorry for my english):

-5 different color for 5 signatures, strange
-Signatures are "too perfect". I don't think when they sign an item, they take time to write perfectly...
-Emma: you can easily see that the person who sign, double sign. I mean, he/she sign over the first signature. Quite strange...
-All the signatures have the same size of pen. I don't know how to explain that. 5 different person don't push the same "force" when they write on a paper...

Anyway, for me it's fake signature. And you say that many items that the seller sell have signature... LOL

They're 100% fake. The myth of them using those 5 different colours comes from the Girl Power! book signing, where they indeed had different colour pens if I'm not mistaken - they also signed a bunch of Virgin press photos using those pens, very early on. Certainly not Spiceworld era.

Sorry, it's fake. The same seller on eBay who sell group items with the same sign fake copies handmade by himself.

Every month he sells different items with the same signs
