Got a new tv...

Postby krtkkarphillmuk » 04 Jul 2012, 09:48

Panasonic VIERA TC-L47E50 47-Inch 1080p Full HD IPS LED-LCD TV (parents bought it... Love them some Costco)...

We went from ugly plasma for a while to this and for about a month we were loving the bright, crisp n vivid colors... Only today to find out we've been watching it in 480i. So we messed withthefunctions and found the 1080 format and we noticed quite a bit of difference.

Question I've seen some tvs on display that look like they were shot from a handheld camera (when showing a feature film)! Lord of the rings was playing and it looked like someone filmed it with a sony handicap camera. Is it possible to get this look on the tv we have? Is there a specific function I need to look for I the setup mode? We just found the 1080 number and messed with the basic functions (color, brightness...etc)

I guess my mainquestion wouldbe how can I maximize the visual viewing enjoyment part of our tv?

Okay.. Traded in tv for another. Samsung (model something something rather something).

What I was looking for was the refresh rate. The new tv is at 120hz vs our last model at 60hz.

HD tv shows and movies via satellite doesn't seem super clear as blu ray movies.

Because of the new tv now I want to invest in star wars blu ray complete saga... ;)

i fucking hate that feature!!!!!!!!!!!! why do they include it on tv?! i call it the soap opera effect, but really its some stupid motion effect that tries to interpolate the frames for a "smooth" transition. argh!!!!!

also refresh rates only really matter for video games or if you watch sports a lot. when it comes to regular tv shows and watching movies, 60hz is usually more than enough.

how are you connecting your tv to your cable box? hdmi? component? they should be as clear as your bluray as long as your cable box provides proper HD resolutions.

and invest in something better to show off your big new HD tv :P lol
