Something similar happened to me when i was living in the UK, it was an Asian girl who asked me where I was from and I said Mexico, and she was like "Where is that?", I was like Are you kidding me??? Everybody knows where Mexico is!!!

Anyway... If anybody knows where to find that magazine in Monterrey please let me know.
See you guys!

Found it!
(Sanborns Valle Oriente, monterrey, quedan varias copias)

I'll try to post the scan soon, but here's the translation of the interview

Mel C: Sexual orientation is irrelevant to me

Melanie C, better known as Sporty Spice, visited Canada on June to the Dike March closing, the ex-Spice Girl, who owns the third place between the British artists with the most co-written number 1’s, just after Lennon and McCartney, chatted exclusively with OHM about Madonna, the Spice Girls, the gay community, and obviously, Mexico.

Mel, you’ve been a solo artist for almost 10 years, sold millions of records around the world, you’re the only Spice Girl who’s successfully alive in the music business, and still there’s people who think of you as Sporty Spice, why is that?
First, I think I’m very lucky to be a Spice Girl, we were a great phenomenon; it doesn’t matter how important it is what you do after, it will never overcome the Spice Girls, I think people always remember the most successful thing you’ve done.
It is weird, but being who you are and living where you live, you are never involved in gossip and scandals, how do you do it?
When I started to be recognized with the Girls, we were followed by the media, and they used to write a lot about me, but I realized I didn’t enjoyed that much attention, so I tried to get rid of it. Many celebrities you see in magazines call the media, and I think it is a dangerous game to play, because you will always be involved in something.
I heard you admire Madonna
Yes, I’ve always been a fan of hers, since she came out, when I was in school. I was inspired by her, and she really influenced me to go solo.
Have you heard ‘Hard Candy’?
No, I’ve only heard a couple of tracks
And what do you think?
If I have to be honest, this is my favorite period, my favorite albums are Ray of Light and Erotica, I think she is genius
You started TROTSG here in Toronto, and you also finished here, then you came back in May with your album ‘This Time’. What does Canada means to you?
Canada has always been a very special place for me, because I have family here and I visited them when I was a kid, besides, I think there is some sort of britishness here, obviously not in Quebec, which is more French, but in the places where they speak more English, there where the britishness is, I mean, we share a queen, and it feels like home, you know? It is a very comfortable place, and Canadians are really adorable, the public and the media, here you find a respect you don’t fin in other countries.
How does it feel to be invited to one of the most important Gay Parades of the world?
It is fantastic, I’m very excited to be invited to perform, first, because I love Toronto, second, because I love to sing, and third, because they gay audience has always supported me, so it is magnificent to have the chance to give back some of the love they’ve given me.
In your own experience, how’s your relationship with the gay community?
To be honest, I don’t care what the sexual orientation of people is, it is irrelevant, at least for me, unless I’m sleeping with them, I really don’t care (laughs), I have straight friends, gay friends, they’re just people, I think it is irrelevant.
And what do you think about gay marriage?
I think it is fair, especially when it has to do with legal issues. I think it should be promoted.
What’s next in your career?
I’m going to enjoy the summer performing with this album, I’ve got a new single that’s coming out in a few weeks, ‘Understand’, and then I’ll go back to the studio to work in new projects.
Do you have plans to visit Mexico?
I’d love to go, I know I have a lot of fans there, but I haven’t had the chance to release my album there. Some record company would have to get in touch with me, and if they’d like to distribute my album there, I’d be more than happy to go. Mexico is a place from which I’ve received a lot of support from the fans, I feel I’ve ignored them, but it is not that I don’t want to go, it is just I don’t have a company there.
As you already know, you’ve got a lot of fans in Mexico, do you have anything to say to them?
Well, I want to apologize for not going, and I just want to say thanks for your support, and I hope to have a possibility to go in the future, if not with this album, possibly with the next one.
OHM Ciao Clichés! Is the first gay publication in Mexico, meaning we are trying to open the macho minds of our country, what do you think about the magazine?
It is brilliant to have people breaking the norm, changing society and minds. I think that in a place like Mexico, so religious, it is very hard, but we live in a different world, where we see the gay community being well accepted like in these events, it should be like that in the whole world.
