Ingrown toenails.
I get them ALL THE TIME. I must not be cutting my toenails right (my big toenails). I'm afraid to paint them because I don't want them to get more infected. I often find myself at the doctor's office getting an anti-biotic because they get so bad. Have any of you ever had your toenails removed? The thought grosses me out, but if it helps, I just might do it.

I sometimes do but just because I get stepped on all the time when I play soccer. It's the biggest pain in the ass EVER.

Re: Ingrown toenails.
You should try your best to cut them straight across and not curve them. If you're still having issues you should try cutting a very small "V" in the center. Your body will naturally try to close the gap and pull your toenails out from the sides slightly.
When I was younger I had several, my first one was so bad before I realized what was happening it had nearly grown through my toe. Eventually I kept getting them in the same toe, same side. So I ended up with a foot specialist doing a very minor surgery. He cut it back to the nail bed (on the side it kept happening) and injected a small amount of acid into the nail bed and killed it so that it stopped growing at that particular spot. Painful and unpleasant, yes. But I haven't had a problem since, and that was probably 12 years ago. It's also not noticeable. If I pull the skin back around my toenail you can see where it no longer grows, but to anyone else it looks normal!

I think I need to get myself some proper toenail clippers. Half of my problem is that I use fingernail ones. But I will try the "V" thing, because I normally (try to at least) cut them straight across, but it's hard to with regular fingernail clippers.

I had the same surgery on both big toes on both sides. I'm so glad I did it.
