Once again: NO KIDS PICTURES!

Postby Dennis » 12 May 2009, 16:22

Hey everyone!

Just a little reminder that due to an agreement with the Beckham's lawyers, you are not to post any pictures of the kids whatsoever. This includes links to sites that contain kids pictures too. Furthermore, please refrain from posting pictures that potentially invade the privacy of the Beckhams (like aerial shots of their home, paparazzi-pics from holidays etc).

We had them contact us again last week about a picture posted (even though it was removed by us within about 2 hours, which shows how they keep a really close eye on us), and frankly, I don't want to deal with their lawyers so frequently, so I'm asking you not to post such pictures in the first place and it's all nice and dandy. It might not always be against the law or always make sense to forbid these pictures, but we agreed with them not to have them on here period and that's how it is. You don't want to fight someone with a law company and a budget as big as theirs ;)

On an unrelated note, I would also like you to remember copyright laws apply in forums as well. Posting pictures from agencies etc on here directly is against the law as it breaks the copyright of the photographer / the licensing deals with the agencies - to avoid any legal problems, it would be much better if you just linked the original source where you found the pictures on (aka the page the pics were on, not just the jpgs directly). Same counts for news stories - just write a little summary and link to the original article instead of posting it on here.

Thanks for the attention! :)

strange that they dont go after the original photographers / agencies. Anyhow, they're legally in the right not to want such pictures on here, so nothing we can do really other than try to cooperate.

That's very strict, thanks for explaining, although i still think it's really stupid of them to have such an attitude with a fan forum.

It just feels like they beat up on the little guys. They don't want pictures posted here, meanwhile x17 has 10 minute videos of the kids playing by themselves, without their parents, on a playground. It makes no sense at all.

It certainly was! They even asked for your details (IP-address and such), I assume for potential prosecution, but I declined giving it out as that would be a breech of data privacy laws.

Having been on this forum since day one you should of known the rules.

Thanks to Mama Dee who pulled the thread as soon as she came online.

Sounds like it has to do with copyright laws too, like last week when 19 told denden to remove some Geri professionally shot photos.

actually, they claimed for breech of privacy (it was a professional picture taken when brooklyn was born and the photographer had it on his website in his portfolio, I assume he does have the copyright for it as he took it, but apparently it was only taken for "private use")

I think that's so silly. If it's publicly available picture on a website on the guy's website and all someone does is link to it, claiming breech of privacy seems a bit silly to me. Copyright issues I could understand. Do their lawyers just have too much time on their hands? As has been said by others, I really think they do go after the wrong people.

^Well, I don't know what position the uber-litigious lawyers would take, but I (unknowingly) posted a picture with Victoria's niece in it a year ago and I don't think there was any problem.

(Oh god, I'll probably be indicted over this post).

I respect their wish for privacy, but it does seem that they fight against a small company becase they dare to. Go and shout at perezhilton and the stupid comments people leave on that website and leave DD alone

agree. I understand hey want to protect their kids and privacy (as much as possile) but I don't really understand why they have to be against a fan forum. We are fans, we love them... bah... anyway I'm ok with the rules.

Well, I can understand them. Don't forget she did receive dead threaths for her and her children a few years back. Pictures start popping up here, but who knows where or with whom they end up. U only need one fucked up "fan" (due to a lack of a better word) to start all that shit again.
