Manolo Blahnik Pleased With Victoria Beckham's 'Boyish' Brogues
Manolo Blahnik is delighted that Victoria Beckham sent her female models out wearing ''boyish'' brogues, which he designed, on the New York Fashion Week catwalk yesterday (09.09.12), where she unveiled her spring/summer 2013 collection.
Manolo Blahnik is delighted Victoria Beckham sent her female models out wearing ''boyish'' shoes on the New York Fashion Week catwalk yesterday (09.09.12).
The legendary shoe designer - made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw character on 'Sex and the City' - was ''very happy'' to see Victoria's models in women's brogues, which he designed himself, while they were showing off her spring/summer 2013 collection because he believes it is ''refreshing'' to wear flat shoes with gowns.
He said: ''I am very happy that she used flat shoes and I think it is very refreshing and elegant to wear boyish flats with dresses.
''She loved the classic men's brogues that we do, so we created a women's version for her.''
Manolo worked closely with Victoria to come up with a footwear design they were both pleased with, and he found the brunette beauty to have a ''great sense of humour'' when they joined forces and insists she is very determined to be a successful designer.
He added to Vogue.co.uk: ''She is a very sweet woman with a great sense of humour.
''You can tell that she is passionate about her collections and a lot of work goes into them. She obviously works extremely hard. We had a discussion about what kind of shoes she was looking for and we looked at different styles and from there we created the shoes you saw on the catwalk.
''She knows exactly what look she wants to achieve and she goes for it wholeheartedly.
''The silhouettes and shapes are very nice and simple; chic with a great colour palette. With her first collection, she grasped the moment and gave the people what was missing - simple dresses beautifully done; elegant and feminine.''

Thanks for the video, the collection is very pristine. Just a shame we couldn't hear the applause at the end when she came out

Re: The Official Victoria Beckham Spring/ Summer 2013 thread
The Times
After what was certainly the best collection of her short career, it was a surprise, backstage, to see Victoria Beckham not wreathed in smiles but glistening with the silvery traces of recent tears. But then the closer you get to Beckham, the stronger grows your conviction that her froideur is simply a defence, a mask constructed as meticulously as her ornate dresses, while the real Victoria hides deftly underneath.
“I think I’m just relieved it’s over,” she said, dabbing an eye. “I still find it so nerve-racking.”
She was prevented from saying more by her husband David, who swept her into a tight hug. “I really loved it. It was really sharp and . . . strong,” he said.
When she was recently pictured in trainers, few would have thought Beckham’s foray into flats would be anything other than fleeting. But not only did flat shoes abound in her show, they were not by Christian Louboutin. Beckham has defected to Manolo Blahnik, his arch-rival.
There was an understatedness to the flat, buckled shoes that offset the lacy prettiness of dresses that would simply have looked tarty with 5in heels.
“I wanted to use the same aesthetic as I always have, but apply it in a different way,” said Beckham, who was dressed in a short black dress from her collection, teamed with black ankle boots. “I was really excited about separates, and especially about trousers, because I haven’t really done many before.”
Her challenge, she said, was to construct the trousers using the same panelling techniques that she uses on her dresses.
“I’ve also been doing a lot of in-store events in different department stores and boutiques around the world. It has been really interesting to listen to what the customer wants, and I think that first-hand knowledge has given me a bit more confidence to take this next step.”
She is clearly still interested in uniform. Her last collection had a military feel: this one owed more to schoolgirls. White shirts with contrast-colour collars of red or black had a puritanical feel, especially when tucked into short, flippy pleated skirts.
On closer inspection, some of the separates turned out to be dresses, with trompe l’oeil effects fooling the eye. Colours were largely monochrome, although there was a glorious tomato red which looked great on a collarless jacket as well as on a simple short skater dress.
“I want any woman who wears my clothes to feel good. Good and empowered,” she said.
For those of us who can’t call on David Beckham for empowerment, a well-cut pair of trousers is the next best thing.

This was posted on twitter by @AnaTanakaMusic. From what I could understand by her tweets, she's a model and she worked for Victoria recently, together with another girl.
I knew there were pieces she didn't show, but never thought there were so many. There's enough clothes there for a another whole show!
