Britain travel spots

Postby redgirlrobyn » 30 Jan 2012, 20:37

Hey all! So I'm currently living in Leeds for the year for uni, and I'm trying to cram as much cheap travel in, and more importantly I'm trying to see as much of Britain as possible. I've got a month off at Easter so for part of that I'm hitting up some mainland Europe destinations, but I'm also trying to fit in some smaller trips to popular spots in Britain.

Basically what I'm wondering from those that are more familiar with the country, is where do you recommend seeing? I've been to Liverpool, London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Durham, and already have plans in place for Sheffield, Newcastle, the Lake District, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and for a train ride into the Scottish Highlands. I'm looking for maybe 2 or 3 suggestions! Thanks in advance :)

I don't know if you like any British movies (good oldies), but I had a wonderful time in Lyme Park, where Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth was shot. WShere I amgoing with this, England has tons of great old houses and parks, if you are into this, that would be a great and a quick trip :)

I dont know how long you are planning to be in Edinburgh for but you should take a day trip to St Andrews if you have time. It's beautifully old and historic, right on the coast and it's where Will and Kate met and went to University.
