Re: 2012: The Return of Girls Aloud
Wow, defensive much?
At the end of the day, the reunion WILL end up being centered/fixated on her rather than the rest of the group, and I don't think that's fair. If it was Nicola-centric, it still wouldn't be fair.

It will most probaly be like The Spice Girls return tour with more people screaming everytime Cheryl sings like they did Victoria.
In fairness when one member gets a much bigger profile over the rest it is usually never quite the same.

Cheryl always got the most screams anyway. They'll just be a little louder.

Very true, the last two tours were very Chryl-screamathons so it shouldn't be much more different

After watching the last 2 dvds, I don't think Cheryl stood out any more than the others.

A DVD experience is different than when you're actually at the concert though. I daresay Victoria wouldn't have stood out so much on a ROTSG DVD purely because the other girls generally have more lines, so the camera would have focused on different girls than Victoria. At the concert, when your view is the 5 of them, I reckon a lot of people spent time watching Victoria. Especially due to the fact she got the loudest screams. So it was similar with Cheryl at a GA concert. A DVD edit may not make her look like the centre of attention, but she really was "in the flesh".

At my show for OOC, it was as if everyone reserved their screams for Cheryl, and no one else got cheers. I made sure to cheer VERY loudly for Nadine and Nicola

Re: 2012: The Return of Girls Aloud
I love Girls Aloud I just want them all to stop smoking so their voices can grow cause Nadine's vocals are deeper that what they used to be, Cheryl's gotten better at holding a tune but her breathing is still messy and the others haven't changed much I guess.
But on this new tour I want less Sarah screams, if I have to hear her screaming throughout the songs on tour one more time I think I'll lose it, she can sing when she's not screeching.
I do think Cheryl will probably have a lot of parts on the new songs with Nadine coming second and Sarah, Kimberly and Nicola coming after and Cheryl will probably be front and centre of the band which may cause problems for them and make things end abruptly which I hope it doesn't. I'm just glad I'll be hearing them sing SOTU and NGA again.

I agree, I hope they stop with the smoking and Cheryl probably will be placed up front in the band. I just hope this all goes well

Do Kimba and Nicola smoke?
Nadine has been papped during OOC rehearsals
Cheryl was caught during X Factor auditions
Sarah was backstage at an awards show smoking

Nicola doesnt but Kimberley was pictured smoking a few years ago.

Re: Girls Aloud - Group Topic (while they're on hiatus!)
I've just wasted some time determining what scores the critics gave the GA albums, lol:
Sound of the Underground 19.5 out of 30. [+ 2 'Positive' no-rating review by BBC Music & BBC News]
What Will the Neighbours Say? 19 out of 25. [+ 4 'Positive' no-ratings review by BBC Music, MusicOMH, The Observer & Virgin Media / 'A-' rating by Stylus Magazine]
Chemistry 18.5 out of 25. [+ 3 'Positive' no-ratings review by BBC Music, The Daily Telegraph & The Observer / 'A-' rating by Stylus Magazine]
The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits 24.25 out of 30. [+ 'Very Positive' no-rating review by BBC Music / 'A' rating by Stylus Magazine]
Tangled Up 36 out of 45. [+ 'Positive' no-rating review by BBC Music]
Out of Control: 35 out of 50. [+ 'Positive' no-rating review by BBC Music]
The rating scores work out as:
The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits = 80.8% [Based on 6 reviews]
Tangled Up = 80.0% [Based on 9 reviews]
What Will the Neighbours Say? = 76.0% [Based on 5 reviews]
Chemistry = 74.0% [Based on 5 reviews]

Interesting, not surprised the GH was the highest rated. I'm glad that TU is the best rated studio allbum though since its my favorite

I feel the same way. Actually I agree with the critics, TU got me on first listen and it is my favorite of their studio albums, but the GH was really the one album that turned me into a fan, as I only got to know them in 2008.

yeah, thanks God my girl doesn't smoke, it makes me love her even more (if that's possible).
I'm sorry, even if the whole world pays attention to Cheryl (bless her) during their reunion, I'll still only have eyes for my Nicola, as it has always been.

My situation was similar, I learned about them in late 2006. Download the first 3 albums and "Something Kinda Ooooh" in early 2007 and I liked the music, but wasn't super crazy about it. That is until Tangled Up came out. I went mental for Call The Shots and then the album really is what turned me into a huge fan of the group

For me, "Tangled Up" (bar the singles and a couple of tracks), the rest just sound like a never-ending song. It's too coherent for my liking. The 2nd half of the album sound too alike that it's like playing a 20 min song. For me, "What Will The Neighbours Say" is the best album from them. Coherent yet the songs are differentiated.
