Why Is that surprising?

Because he's full of injury, not as fit as he used to be and won't be able to keep up with the play.

Is it really going to be the same as the England team? I doubt it, I'm sure a lot of stars will opt out because of holiday or club committments.

^Olympic tournament is for young players. Only three team members can be over 23, so it's much different that usual World/European cup teams. He's probably only even being considered as a thank-you for helping to bring the games to London.
I think he's hoping to get called, he certainly hinted that more times than once. If he does get called and GB wins I suppose he'll be nations hero once again. If they don't win he'll be the old guy who doesn't know how to let it go.

I'm sure he'd love to play, and because of public relations he probably will.
I don't think he should though.

I think just having him in the team is a big draw. And since it will probably be younger players what better player to have for them to look up to. I'm sure Stuart Pearce will pick players who are on form however it also depends how big a say the powers at be will have. I think no matter what he will always give %100 and one special pass or freekick can change a game. His Experience alone will benefit those on the team. Do I think he should play? Well he clearly wants to and since it is where he grew up and he was involved in bringing the olympics to London then i can see that it would be a nice gesture. I can't comment on his forrm because I havent seen galaxy games this season. From the sounds of things though the whole team aren't exactly on fire. I just wont be surprised if he is on the team

He shouldn't get picked because he is a big draw or as a thank you.... that's too political and it's a confirmation of everything his critics have been saying about him for years. It sucks that he didn't get to play in the 2010 World Cup, but that really should have been his last chance. There are much better players than him who are over 23 and under 37. I have watched the Galaxy games this season and he is a shadow of his former self. If they want him for his experience then let him help out the way he did at the World Cup.

I'm not saying he should be picked as a thank you which is why I said it depends if it is really is all up to Stuart Pearce. If it is then I can't see him being picked. I agree with experience thing though. I think having him as part of the background staff etc would be a much better role.

Oh and wtf has happened to his hair? It looked fine after the Elle shoot, but now it looks awful.
Ken Paves must have touched it.

Another chance for an Iker and Becks reunion.

It's kinda scary how few players remain from his time in Madrid. I definitely feel like they should reunite the Galactico players for a charity game or something. That would be epic.

1-1
David just scored a great goal from a free kick. They look better in the second half (they hardly could have looked worse tho)
