Alexandra Burke
Re: Alexandra Burke
Yeah I agree, the decision for her to go down the more dancey route of Pop may have also hurt her, if her fans were expecting something more similar to her 1st album

Lol I was convinced this would go to number one due to how low sales are right now... At least Sweet 7 can be retired as the mother of all flops now!!

Re: Alexandra Burke
Last week's #18 album sold 6,835 copies.
Presumably Alexandra will sell around the same - appalling! To think 'Overcome' opened with 132,065 sales, and sold well over 800,000 copies in total. Her audience has practically vanished!
Personally, I think she took way too long to release this second album. October 2009 to June 2012 is a pretty long time.

She did take too long and she probaly realises that now. Two year gaps between albums should be the most you take no longer.
Its like Melanie C with Northern Star > Reason
October 1999 - March 2003
Waaaay to long.

Re: Alexandra Burke
The gap between those two Melanie C albums felt so long! It seemed Melanie always intended for there to quite a significant gap though. I remember reading in Insider Spice (a late 2000 edition, I think) where she stated she planned to have her second album released in late 2002. I remember being so disappointed, because it just seemed like a lifetime away! Ha.
Looking back, 'Reason' got off to a very good start. First week of over 30,000 and a Top 5 placing was great. It was pretty much all over after that. Makes you wonder how well a second Melanie C album would have done if she'd had one ready for 2001.
*Very very off topic*
I'm not sure how Alexandra's career will recover after this. If the album performs this poorly in week 1, it's usually beyond saving. The launch single going to #33 makes you question whether any other song from this album could be a hit. I bet her team are rather bewildered, especially after the promising beginning with 'Elephant' getting to #3.

Such a shame the album got off to this bad of a start, agree that she did take too long to release this album after her first and it shows. I hope her career can recover from this but it'd take something amazing from her for thaat to probably happen

Seeing how poorly the album is doing, the real question now is how did 'Elephant' manage to get a top 3 position?.

I'd be surprised if it can even reach 15,000 in total. Unless of course she miraculously has a hit with a third single.
Edit: 'Overcome' revealed to have sold 813,469 copies.

I beg your pardon, but don,t take that tone with me. I,ve done nothing wrong here. I love artists that have a good flop or two to their name, it makes their careers a lot more exciting for me. You know I love La Toya, Rebbie, Jackie and Marlon due to their flop music careers; I have little interest in Janet and none whatsoever in Michael, mostly because they are seen as successful. The more an album flops or an artist struggles the more interest in them I have, which is my Melanie C is one of my favourite artists. She is the epitome of flop but carries on regardless. The same reason applies as to why I bought Sweet 7 not long after it came out but I only got Angels With Dirty Faces a short while ago. If Alexandra flops to high heaven and gets dropped, that may just be thing it takes for me to get into her. I will probably get HoH when it is £3 next month.
Just because you appreciate an artist for different reasons to me doesn't make my way of appreciating them wrong. It's not my fault you see a flop as a negative thing; I am allowed to celebrate it if I find that exciting.

Last time I explain myself to you then. I always thought we got on but I guess I was wrong.
