How to Learn HTML

Postby Judes » 09 Jul 2012, 20:32

I am interested in learning HTML, periously I was studying graphic design- tried a different path for a while but I'm slowly getting back into it. School is kind of tricky right now and I might not be able to change my major BACK to graphic design so I was going to look at introducing myself to HTML or web design on my own- maybe at least learn the basics.

I'm assuming there are probably quite a few people who are familiar with it on DD. Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me some advice? Thanks ;)

Thank you so much! I feel like I may have heard about this website while talking to a professor a couple months ago. I'll check it out :)

When I taught myself, I took fully made websites and read through the code to help myself pick it up too!

Although I recommend moving into HTML5 and away from basic HTML/XHTML when you notice yourself starting to pick it up!

Once you learn the basics and can read other peoples code it becomes easy to locate, steal and learn the cool bits you see on other websites.

Plenty of open source beginners courses around and after that there's nothing like diving in the deep end to learn.

Still haven't been able to take a look at anything. I work on a computer ALL day at work, then by the time I get home I don't want to open up my lap top

Just got an email from a professor I'm going to have starting next month that says we'll be required to have a subscription to Lynda.com - so, pretty cool that you mentioned it Char.

ALSO- I just bought the Adobe Creative Suite (CS5) it was on super mega sale at my schools bookstore. I am so intimidated by some of the programs I've never seen seen before. I only have experience with a few of them.
