WOW!

Also includes 1971 sales as well, which was around 70,000 copies. Should enter the Top 60 best sellers by the time the song is out of the chart!

Did you know that New Order's "Blue Monday", the lowest selling million-seller at no.78, is the biggest selling 12" single of all time?

And that for every copy sold, Factory records lost money because the artwork was so expensive?

I cant believe so many bought Candle in the Wind 97, & to think that version of the song was only ever performed live once. Pretty incredible.

Yup, just in its first week... Will Young sold 1,100,000 in his first week - the highest first week sales of all time for a debut act.

Wannabe was a consistent selling song - it's biggest sales in one week was 154,000 copies, and its first week was around 70,000. To go from 70,000 in its first week to 1.2m in total was very, very good!

It sold 1.2 million copies in the UK in total... as I just said above, it sold 70,000 copies in its first week(nothing to do with money by the way re: $). Not sure about worldwide sales, but certainly not 30 million copies ;). Their "Spice" album sold over 20 million copies worldwide, and their total album sales were around 40 million copies.
